WP Twitter

    Hey there,

yes, I know that I should install the security plugin to "report bugs effectively" but why should I install another security plugin if I already have one installed?

Anyway, since yesterday, the plugin's widgets refuse to work. Authorization is successful, I've also de- and re-authorized, checked the twitter username etc - but in the preview there's just: nothing. Just a small black empty widget box which won't appear in the sidebar, that's all. It's just gone.

    Any ideas?

Seems to be this problem, so I think the plugin needs an update. :)

You *might* get it working by looking through the plug-in's code for any URL that looks like:

    https://api.twitter.com/1/
    and change it to:
    https://api.twitter.com/1.1/
So that it's using the 1.1 API version.

Other then that, contact the plug-in's author. Btw, I don't use that plug-in.

    Hello MarkRH,

It seems your suggestion will work but I am unable to identify where this url exists within my wp installation files.

Also it seems plug-in's author is busy with some other work so he is not responding to queries here. May be he is busy in update for the plugins.

It's http instead of https, and there are a few to replace - but I'll keep my fingers off the code and will wait for an update. I tried lots of other twitter widgets and plugins in the meanwhile but they're all not satisfying.

Guess it depends on what it's doing if http or https is used. The Twitter PHP library I use and some other other plug-ins for my gallery use https.

    wp-twitter\modules\p1\oauth-twitter.php

    Line no:
    250 (change 1.0 to 1.1)

    255 (change http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/update.xml to http://api.twitter.com/1.1/statuses/update.xml)

    275 (change http://api.twitter.com/1/users/show.xml?id= to http://api.twitter.com/1.1/users/show.xml?id=)

after update this reauthorized the app.

it shows you authorized than but widget is still not working

    *Cheers* :D

    Thank you!!!

I like this Twitter plugin the best. Very nice to only have one plugin to do what take 3 others to accomplish.
