   Hello Alex,

   Just a question. I decided to rename the extension of my FLV to .som (anything as long as its not .flv) because there's no way to protect uploaded .flv to my server and other people may or are hotlinking my flvs. However when i tried to enter the url of the renamed FLV file in wordtube say http://domain.com/file000.som the player does not want to play. Please note that i just changed the extension but the file is still a flash video (flv) by nature. Is there a way i can manipulate the code such that it will play the renamed .flv video?

   By what logic do you arrive at the conclusion that you can rename a file extension dedicated to a particular type of file and have it actually work? Then again ... why would you think that this kind of question belongs in THIS board for advanced issues - rather than the regular "how to" board?

   If hotlinking bothers you - that is properly handled by editing your .htaccess file - not by renaming files willy-nilly.

   Yeah hotlinking protection is what you need.

   Renaming extensions may work for some things, but not in this case...

   As Saurus said, look into .htaccess information...
