I've been using WordPress stats plugin on numerous sites for a long time and it's been great.

However, I've just installed it to a new site and need to enter my API key so visited wordpress.com and looked all over the dashboard trying to find the API key but it's simply not there.

    What's happened? HELP!

NOTE: I have looked very closely all around the wordpress.com dashboard before posting here, so no "It's on the 'profile' page" comments please.

    Anyone?

I have installed JetPack but the stats from that just isn't as good as this plugin was.

Where can I find my API key, please?!

Apparently you have to go to akismet and get them to resend it:

    akismet.com/wordpress

(I did find that info by going to my profile page - they have a link saying "Were you looking for your API Key and other Personal Settings?" :)

BTW, I thought that JetPack was just wordpress.com stats wrapped with some extra features?

Don't suppose you can help with a related question?

Sorry, I was under the impression the Akismet API key was dor Akismet, and the WordPress.com API was for wordpress.com stats. Do they both use the same API key?

This whole 'JetPack' thing that's moreorless being forced on users is absolutely ridiculous.

@kharisma- had a look, but can't help you unfortunately.. really not sure & tbh, I'm not even sure who you should ask for support on that- this whole thing is a complete shambles. I'm going to switch all my sites to this for that very reason:

Yes, the same API key is used for both.

I think Akismet is by Automattic who are also the folk who run wordpress.com, so that is the same API key you use for anything written or managed by them.

Thanks for looking at the other question - finally got some support from them.

thanks for clearing that up. I have a note of that API key somewhere so should be good to go now (Bye bye Jetpack!).

Glad you got your problem sorted too, thanks again
