    Tq james for the info..

    Question 1:
do u mean i need to setup new wp.com account using the same user name & pass which i use for wp.org?

after setup wp.com, i will receive the email with API Key. after that apply that key for Plugin WordPress.com Stats.

    Question 2:
is it Akismet API Key = WordPress.com Stats API Key ???

    tq

  3. do u mean i need to setup new wp.com account using the same user name & pass which i use for wp.org?

Yes, you do need to set up a wordpress.com account, but you don't need to use the same username and password if you don't want to.

after setup wp.com, i will receive the email with API Key. after that apply that key for Plugin WordPress.com Stats.

Follow the guide that I linked to and find your API key, then apply it to the plugin.

is it Akismet API Key = WordPress.com Stats API Key

Yes. Technically, it's a WordPress.com API key, which can be used for both Akismet and WordPress.com Stats.

The API key "xxxxxxxxxxxx" belongs to the WordPress.com account "mathslabfx". If you want to use a different account, please enter the correct API key.

Note: the API key you use determines who will be registered as the "owner" of this blog in the WordPress.com database. Please choose your key accordingly. Do not use a temporary key.

below is the reply from wp.com when i sent my problem above...

The Stats plugin won't work unless the JavaScript is showing and firing in your footer. It should look something like this:

    <script src="http://stats.wordpress.com/e-201038.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

I don't see it in your site's footer.

    ----------------------------------------

so where should i put the following code

    <script src="http://stats.wordpress.com/e-201038.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

    in the footer php

    tq

  7. Go to Appearance/Editor in your admin panel and add it before the </html> tag.

Also, did you click the "Add blog to WordPress.com account" link to finish setting up the plugin?

    what should i do ??

  14. @niktabah

There were some changes made on the plugin recently. Try upgrading the plugin to the latest version, then disable & enable it.

What is the error message you're seeing after doing that?

I am having the same problem and I have been on it (searching for answers on the internet, and all), and I am still no where to resolving the issue. Why is WordPress organization silent about this and want us to depend on trial and error suggestions here and there? I am new to wordpress but my guess is that there is a catch that wordpress is not open about. Otherwise, how come an API key that is supposed to works for Akismet and WordPress Stats has to be acquired from Akismet? And when it works for Akismet (it works for me), it does not work for WordPress Stats? There is nothing wrong is saying that we have to pay for it. Pardon me if I am wrong, but it is frustrating for someone to get stuck on an issue with plugin install. Please WP, let us know if we need to pay for an API key for your WP Stats, and if it is true that we don't need a sperate key, then give us a link to where to fix the issue. Thx.
