I download this straight from wordpress and the version under the plugins menu states 1.3. I went through every post on my site and Tweaked the meta title, meta description, and meta tags, etc the way I wanted. So that I could get the best possible onsite seo since this is my first site. I proceeded to get the site indexed and build backlinks. When I got my site indexed and checked the meta descriptions on google, none of it had been applied. This is really bad for seo especially on a new site like mines. Is there anything I can do?

Try waiting for Google's cache to catch up with your changes.

Before I started driving to traffic to the site, I already had the meta info set. Do I still have to wait for google to get the proper information.

Almost certainly. It can take weeks for Google to update its cache.

Oh OK. I just thought since my site was just indexed last night that it would have had everything. But what you're saying make sense. I think I'm just kind of anxious since this is my first site. I want it to be a success.

Expect it to take at least 6 months before you start seeing any real returns from Google.
