   I have the Yoast SEO module with the News SEO module. What is the URL to the sitemaps so I can submit them to search engine webmaster tools? I see there is one at /sitemap_index.xml? Where is the news one? Is it possible to edit the xml file names to match older sitemaps filenames?

   No you can't edit them, those files aren't static either. The news sitemap, when properly activated, is linked from the index sitemap.
