Removing category base results in selective 404 results (1 post)

We love using WordPress SEO (together with WPML), but can't get the category removal to work. We're running WP 3.2.1 and WP SEO 1.0.3.

When disabling WP SEO everything is working as expected with categories; when it's activated, the category removal works fine for main- and sub-categories of the main language, but for secondary languages only the main category works, while sub-categories give 404s. Single posts within those categories also work.

After searching error reports, I've not found anything indicating WPML in this, but a couple of people having this issue with WP SEO. Although I presume most people are NOT having an issue - unfortunately we can't figure out what's wrong.

We're running our WP site on a Windows server at the moment and I don't know if that might be part of the problem with redirects.

I've tried to update WP SEO and re-saving the WP permalink settings, as has been suggested elsewhere, but it doesn't help.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!
