  • WordPress version: 3.4.1
    WordPress SEO version:1.2.5

I want to do this: I’m changing the URLs on all the pages for a site that has been up for a while and after I’ve added all my 301 redirects and updated the urls, I want to keep the old sitemap up for several weeks to make sure Google crawls the sitemap and processes all the 301 redirects before I change the sitemap to the new URLs. This seems to work well and I’ve read in multiple blogs that others tend to do this as well.

Is there a way to pause the sitemap generation, so that I can make changes to the URLs without the plug-in regenerating a new sitemap? I suppose I could just add my own sitemap manually and turn off the sitemap functionality completely, but was hoping there might be an easier way.

If my strategy and thinking is off, please prove it.

    Thanks for the help.
