I filled in Focus Keyword: SEO Title:Meta Description: and Meta Keywords: However when i search for my site using google it comes up exactly the same as before. It even is showing old pages which don't exist any more. So far this plugin doesn't even seem like it switched on!

    Can anyone help?

    Cheers

    Tom

  2. It just sounds like Google has not been to crawl your site since you made the changes.

Have you set up Google Webmaster Tools and verified the site? Once you do that you can track exactly when Google has spidered your site.

You can also click on the "cached" link next to your results to see the date when Google last visited the page.

Take note that even when Google indexes your site again, nothing guarantees that Google will show your title & meta description - they can choose to show something else if they think it will be more useful for visitors.

Here's some info from Google on their snippets:

    Thanks for your help.

I haven't done the Webmaster thing as it just had 3 empty boxes and I didn't know what to put in them. (Im using the Matisse theme) Kellyimages.co.uk

  4. Hi there. You don't actually need to touch your theme or add any plug-ins to set up Google Webmaster Tools. Just follow their instructions for adding the HTML verification file to your site via FTP.

I went on the Google site and it said this

"Verification doesn't affect PageRank or affect your site's performance in Google's search results."

Obviously the thing im trying to do is get SEO by Yoast to start working with the search results. I filled in the boxes and pressed update but it doesn't make any change to the search results.

    cheers

I have successfully verified my site now. I will see if I can find the problem

There will only be changes once the Googlebot revisits your site, as I said earlier. Good luck.

It's still the same. On my last site when my web designer changed the keyword and meta stuff it changed on line within 4hrs. This has been almost a week and I don't get the impression this is going to change at all. Is there anything else I need to do other then fill in the boxes on the edit page section of wordpress and the SEO program?

  9. Has Google reindexed your site?

Can you provide a link to your site?

Don't think so, site is http://kellyimages.co.uk

  11. You need to wait until Googlebot revisits your site, which is something that is out of your control. A week is not a long time - it can take months between Googlebot visits.

For tips on how to get Google to reindex your site, I suggest check out the Google Webmaster Central forum or post a question there. For example:

    http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Webmasters/thread?tid=3d20052cbb9a6e61&hl=en

I also suggest you set up 301 (permanent) redirects from some of your old pages still indexed by Google, to point them to new pages. You can either do this manually in your .htaccess file, via your hosting control panel (often an easy option) or using a redirection plug-in.

    Good luck.

I am having a terrible time getting Google Webmaster to verify my site. The instructions are to upload the HTML file to my web site, or to place the Meta Tag into my site's home page (in the <head> section before the first <body> section. Google needs a Technical Writer, as these instructions are not precise. Let's take these instructions one at a time.

    1. GOOGLE Instruction -- Upload the HTML file to my web site? MY QUESTION -- I was able to download the file to my desktop, but where in my web site do I upload it to, and how do I do that?

    2. GOOGLE Instruction -- Place the Meta Tag into my site's home page (in the <head> section before the first <body> section? MY QUESTION -- OK I am using WordPress 2011 Theme Version 1.4, and in my (static) home page I cannot see the <head> or <body> HTML codes. Where do I place the Meta Tag? Also, on the first dashboard page of the Youst SEO App. there are links to Google's, Bing's, and Alexa's Tools, and opposite each of them is an unpopulated field (fill in the blank). What do we put in each of those fields?
