Can't find sitemaps (5 posts)

    I wanted to amend the sitemaps - change frequency to "daily" and stuff - but when I log into my ftp I can't find the sitemaps xml files in the root directory of my website's ftp. Where are they situated please?

    Also, if I amend them manually then upload the amended sitemaps to my server, will the Yoast SEO plugin overwrite my amendments, or delete them at all?

    Many thanks,
    Jae :)

    Hello Jae,

    The sitemap is generated on-the-fly by this plugin. So, you can't edit it. You can find your site's sitemap at yoursite.com/sitemap_index.xml

    AFIK, there is no option to do what you are trying to achieve, as of today. If there is any such option, it would be available at yoursite.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wpseo_xml .

    I can't get any of the search engines to find the sitemaps, Bing can't even find them.

    It says they are generated but they are not in the root of the wordpress blog site.

    Any clues?

    I have no sitemap in the root of my site either. From the WP Dashboard - SEO - XML Sitemaps - You can find your XML Sitemap here: XML Sitemap - I get an error 404 - not found. Checking with filezilla in the root there is nada xml files - stumped - please help - http://carltonmceachern.com

    @carlton and @PC-ASSIST

    Please create you own threads to get it noticed and probably addressed by someone from our community.

    You can't find this sitemap, physically. It is generated on the fly. You can type the URL, yoursite.com/sitemap_index.xml in the browser to see the sitemap. If it shows 404, then please create a new thread.
