[Plugin: WordPress SEO by Yoast] Automatic Pinging – Can it be controlled?

    It’s the first time I’m using wordpress and have a question regarding automatic pinging with the Yoast Plugin. How often does it Ping Google and Bing and the other search engines that I choose (Yahoo and Ask)? Is it once a day or each and every time I update a page and post a new post/page?

    If it’s every time – isn’t this spamming? Is there a way to control it?
