Unfortunately PHamlP definitely has some issues.

Here are other reports of the same issue:
    http://code.google.com/p/phamlp/issues/detail?id=112

And the project hasn't been updated since Sept 2010.

I may have to rework the plugin and just use Compass but it won't be as easy to install.

Here is one other issue someone had and how it was fixed:

Not sure if that applies. I believe indents do matter somewhat in SASS. I would try adding a line at a time and then determining exactly which definition is failing.

thanks, i'll check it out when i can. i really like that the plugin is super easy to install, so it'd be a shame if it got more complex, but i guess sometimes you have to move one when projects are abandoned. i got around this for now by importing the normalize.css instead of pasting it into the .scss file.

As I posted on the other thread, I just changed sass compilers from PHamlP to phpsass. Should be some dramatic improvements now.
