[Plugin: WordPress Popular Posts] Server Crashed because of admin-ajax.php due to WPP

    Hi,

    My website receives 20k+ uniques per day and after installing the wordpress popular post last night, just a moment ago my server crashed and my host reported that it is because the admin-ajax.php causing severe load on my server and it was the plugin accessing it everytime.

    My suggestion is, can you make the updates hourly? I mean like the views will be stored in a variable then after an hour it will access the admin-ajax.php to update the views. In that case, it will not cause server restrain because admin-ajax.php will only be accessed 24 times per day.

    Hi wndsr,

    A fix has been included in the development version which is currently under testing. Once I’m done with that, will release a new update that should help you with that.

    Hi,
    actually I’m doing a cross-browser testing and IE8 has an error in some internal pages that got so slow in terms of loading time with your plugin.

    The Error is that the javascript is undefined and it’s related to the script of admin-ajax.php. Is the new update fixing this issue?

    Since I’m also following the discussion about the custom post type support I’m wondering why you still didn’t release the new update yet.

    Can you give us in the meantime the fix so that we can run your plugin until you don’t release the new update? My site has 80k visits monthly…

    Hi Jumust,

    I did release a sample of the development version on that discussion 4 weeks ago now so people could try it out and took down the download around two days ago.

    As I said in the reply above, once I’m done with the final tests I will release the official update.
