Ive upgraded t0 2.0 to realise there is only customization via the widget function. I custom wrote my templates without including space for widgets since I do not like the feature. Is there still a manual way to configure things? Or will there be a manual way to in future installments like you did in version 1?

I would like an answer to this question too!!
Hi guys,
Sorry to say that there's no way to manually customize it. However, some other users have complained about this as well and I'm re-adding this feature again probably on version 2.0.1.
If you want to, you can follow the discussion and share your thoughts / suggestions here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/352693
I've upgraded to version 2.0 and now I does not work anymore because my WP theme is not widget ready. Very bad news, very bad idea. Uninstalling and looking for another popular posts plugin :-(
Hi edupin,
Did you follow the link I posted previously? In case you didn't, I readded the template tag and you still can customize it via parameters so it does work.
