I have a number of exiting websites that I'd like to make memebers of a newly establishing network i.e. multisite. I was wondering is it really necessery to export each and every exiting site and than to import it into the network, if all of them are on the same server?

    Tnx in advance.

  2. If they're not on the same MU install, then you can't use MU plugins to manage them. You get how that works, right? :D

  3. Yes it's really necessary - so they are all in the same database so the one wordpress install knows about them.

Andrea, tnx for such a quick response... just one final question: is there something I should beware of in the process, linkwise or rather googlewise?

  5. If in the end they all still have the same URL, then there's not really any worries.

Dear Andrea, unfortunately this is not working out... One of my sites has over 5000 articles and 30 active plugins... if I try to move it this way, all of the plugin data gets lost... Isn't there a way to move the site and keep all of that data?

    @ Modesty:

If you are familiar with MySQL, you can do database migrations. However, these can be tricky and you need to be careful doing them.

I know... I'm trying to figure out the right paths to stuff on the new site, and it's killing me...
