WordPress MU Domain Mapping
[resolved] Mapped Domain www on Godaddy (2 posts)

I have the plugin working perfectly when mapping to non-www domains, setting up my first www domain (old domain, locked into www).

Currently main domain is non-www and all mapped domains are non-www.

On Godaddy pretty easy to setup, revert to their parked domain option, edit the advanced DNS and change the A @ IP address to the IP used by the main domain.

Under the domain mapping page for the site to be mapped set the primary domain to the non-www version of the domain and everything works.

When I was researching the setup I recall reading there's an extra step if you want to use www but not sure if that was only referring to the main domain as can't find it now.

Currently trying as above but under the domain that is to be mapped domain mapping page adding the www version as the primary domain.

    Are there any more steps?

Waiting for the new DNS to propagate, currently the non-www http://musicred.com/ is redirecting to the main domain (main domain star-forums.net) with a notice about registrations disabled. Is that normal? Should I add a 301 redirect to the roots .htaccess file

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.domain\.com$
    RewriteRule (.*) http://www.domain.com/$1 [R=301,L]

The www version http://www.musicred.com/ is still loading the old site (still live and on another server). When it works the name of the site will change from "Music Red" to "Music Lyrics", old site has about 6 posts, new over 150.

Would appear adding the www version is all that's needed as working now. That was easy :-)

Still have the non-www version redirecting to a registration page on main domain, will try the 301 rewrite rule tomorrow.
