   I added custom field with Name min-level... what type of data should I put in Value field to set user level?

   Any help would be greatly appreciated--I have limited experience with WordPress, but I was forced to admin our site when another employee left the company.

   My end goal is to have 8 downloadable files & to set exactly which users can & cannot download. I am trying to avoid having to create 3 additional sites. The files contain our wholesale, retail, builders & designers price list for tile. I downloaded plugin members components to create different roles.

   Also, if you know whether file is viewable to all users or just those who have permissions would help, too.

   Lastly, if I cannot do what I desire using this plugin, do you know of one that would better work for my purposes?

   User Level 0 converts to Subscriber Role
   User Level 1 converts to Contributor Role
   User Level 2 converts to Author Role
   User Level 3 converts to Author Role
   User Level 4 converts to Author Role
   User Level 5 converts to Editor Role
   User Level 6 converts to Editor Role
   User Level 7 converts to Editor Role
   User Level 8 converts to Administrator Role
   User Level 9 converts to Administrator Role
   User Level 10 converts to Administrator Role

   You should also turn on 'member only' and 'force', and if you want to hide the file, so its not directly accessible to anyone else, move it outside the site root (usually above public_html) since then no one can browse to it directly.

   I use Role Manager to create special roles that I assign to members-only categories. Is there a way to assign a user level to these custom roles?

   Couldn't tell you; but I will be adding min-role in the next version.
