   Some major step in the documentation seems to be missing:

   Are we supposed to create custom links for every download file? Hope I don't have to re-code the links to the 75 files on my site. DM has read the directory with the files but the hit counts aren't changing, so I was wondering if the download links have to be changed.

   I see a big tab called 'usage' in the docs showing how to use shortcodes to output correct links, or you can take the link directly from the admin page. Hits can't be triggered unless you link using these methods.
