[Plugin: WordPress Backup to Dropbox] Unable to connect…

    Hello,

    I installed Backup to Dropbox on one site and it functions OK
    I want to use Backup to Dropbox on more sites, connecting to the same Dropbox, but making use of different backup directories.

    In my first attempt to do so, I got this message:

    Unable to connect to tcp://www.dropbox.com:80. Error: Connection timed out

    What is going on here and what are appropiate steps to fix this?

    Gday Dirk,

    I have used it on multiple websites pointing to the same Drobox account without issues.

    The problem there is because you server cannot access the internet for some reason and was probably just a one off incident.

    Hello Mikey,

    The same issue is a persistent one…
    But I figured out what goes wrong.

    My provider blockes all external URL’s which are addressed with the PHP/Perl command “fopen” or “curl” (allow_url_fopen). They do this for security reasons.

    My provider is willing to solve this but needs to know the (range of) IP address(es) which the plugin uses to connect to.

    Is there a way to obtain these addresses?

    Gday Dirk,

    Your server needs to be able to connect to http://api.dropbox.com.

    Thanks! I found the associated IP-addresses.
    It’s now my provider’s job to make it work 😉

    I am also having same problem . I have latest version of wp and your plugin. I cannot get this plugin work never. Really want this plugin to work. Is this due to execution time ??
