   Hi,
   I've tried this plugin in a wordpress quite customized:
   3 custom post types and several taxonomies.

   installation went ok, but when (as user) i've visited the "add ticket" page (like editing a post) I had on the right admin sidebar the categories box

   Yes, this is to be able to set the category on which you want to add the ticket... You can restrict the allowed categories through the options page.
