I’m using eShop for two years now, but would like to migrate it to Woo. However there is a twist. Since eShop uses posts and pages and allows me to seamlessly blend products with other content (which is the main reason I chose it) and Woo seems to do it in a whole different way, I need to keep my current product structure and appearance.

So can I add a shortcode or something to my existing product posts, that will link them to actual products (already created) the way Woo understands them? In other words, I would like to turn a regular post into Woo product. Possible?

If you’re asking if WooCommerce can add shortcodes to posts/pages, then yes it can. You even have shortcode “magic” button within your post/pages for easier shortcode generation.

After playing for some time with the demo, I believe my question should take a different bias. I saw it is possible to add shortcodes to existing posts to include buy button for specific product for example. Now, most of my products have options. From what I saw, the buy button in this case takes user to corresponding product page, where they can choose the desired option. This is however no good to me, as it ruins user experience. My site is magazine first, shop second, so I don’t want to drag users away from the post and take them to a separate “shop” page of the same product. What I need is to allow visitors add products to basket from within specific “product post”, being also able to choose options and extras, as opposed to having them take an extra step and seeing extra screen. Here is a screenshot from my current shop, so you have a clue what I mean. Sorry it’s in Bulgarian, but you get the idea.

Yes I understand what you’re after however, it is something that needs to be custom coded for your application.

Or make all your products without product attributes/variations, another words (simple products) then people can add to cart without leaving the page.

I see. Thanks for the help.

I too have the exact same problem. I would like to migrate from eShop to WooCommerce. However, I’d for normal posts and pages to be products also, instead of having a separate post type.

It’d be nice if WooCommerce had an option like “allow normal content to be product” which would cause normal posts or pages to be products (i.e. normal posts and pages would show the WooCommerce forms in the edit screen).
