plugin wish list... category control (5 posts)

I find myself in need of a plugin... so I'll add it to the wish list, since I can't imagine why nobody's asked for this before.

Let me give you the problems, and then I'll give you the solution than I envision.

I recently important a whole pile of posts to the blog from another source. The categories have to be set by hand, thereby.

Else, in looking back at a list of posts, I recognize that posts with a particular string in them, say "Widgets" are numerous enough on the blog to need their own category.

What I envision for solution is the ability to create a list of posts based on a string search. once the list is displayed, the administrator can then tell the system to assign everything with the string "widget" to a particular set of categories. Example, Anything with the word "Widget" would go into categories "Sidebar" "Widget" and "plugin" (Or whatever) by means of simply checking off the selections as you do in the post window.

I have 9000 posts to manage, and manual category changing one at a time is a real drag.

Anyone got any magic up their sleeves?

(And before you ask, yes, I've been trying "Batch Categories" from Rob Miller. Nice idea, but sporadic results. I get the impression that there's a problem with the more recent version of WordPress 2.32 and this plug-in, though I haven't confirmed that yet.)

JC; Yeah, I was a little disappointed myself.
The thing worked exactly once. Since then, it refuses to even find anything I'm looking for. Say, all posts with the words "Fred Thompson" in them, for example... I know I had at least 40 or so. It won't find them. In fact, no matter what string I use. No idea, and my fuse on the matter continues to get shorter. (Sigh)

Hans... did you want to say something?
