    Hi,

I'm relatively new to word press. I am looking for a plug in to have a simple welcome page. My page is http://www.easytalknyc.com and it is made so there is a English and Japanese version of it. To make the experience simple I want a welcome page that can link you to either the English or Japanese version of the site.
My friend said it was called a static page but I'm not sure if that is the right word. So, my questions are what is this page I'm describing technically called (it would help me navigate the forums or re-ask this question easier). And if you know a good plug in or a link to a similar thread please link me!

    Thanks,

    Leo

Your friend is correct. See Creating_a_Static_Front_Page.

I'd also suggest that you look at some of the translation or multilingual plugins. qTranslate appears to be popular but as I've never used any of them, I couldn't recommend a particular plugin.

Have a look in http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ Most plugins have user star ratings and show which versions of WordPress that they are compatible with. You can also see what issues people may have had with them recently via direct links to support topics in these forums.
