I recently installed W3TC and used basic default configurations in most places. I'm not terribly technical so didn't get fancy with anything. Today, I installed Cloudfront as my CDN. I selected CDN to host: include files, theme files, and custom files (all of which I uploaded to CDN) -- the site seems fine and I can see image files using the CDN file path.
When I check Pingdom or Page Speed, I'm not noticing any improvement in page load times from before the CDN was installed though. Most pages load around 4-5 seconds both before and after the CDN integration.
I noticed in Pingdom that most items on the page are loading within 2 seconds as they are served by the CDN which is much quicker than before. However, minified CSS and JS file stand out as have long load times, so I decided that these would benefit from CDN hosting and might improve the page loading times.
When I go to the admin panel, the checkbox option for Host Minified CSS and JS files on CDN is greyed out and is unable to be selected (???).
Here are my current settings:
My site: http://www.eatingoutloud.com
General Tab -
-Minify enabled, Auto mode, using Disk
Minify Tab - Enabled
-rewrite URL structure enabled
-JS; enabled and preserved comment selected
-CSS; enabled, preserved comment selected, and line break removal selected
CDN Tab
-- Host minified CSS and JS checkbox is greyed out
-- in Advanced section, auto upload of minify files is also greyed out
What is preventing me from being able to upload minified CSS and JS to CDN?
I appreciate any help -- thanks in advance!
Allen
