    Hey!

I’m using W3 Total Cache plugin and very happy with the performance results of my website. However, there is something I’m wondering. The plugin adds ?d7148e suffix to pdf, jpg, and png file extensions on my website, which result in

    somefile.pdf?d7148e
    someimage.jpg?d7148e
    someimage.png?d7148e

I wonder what this suffix does. Could someone enlighten me on this matter please?

    Thanks.

  • I have the same problem since 0.9.2.4

Haven’t encountered it myself but I think it is used so you can refresh browsers caches without them having to force reload or empty cache. Changing the suffix forces the browser to retrieve a new copy of the file.

This is a result of the feature “Prevent caching of objects after settings change ” which allows you to change your browser cache policies at any time.

    Ok, thank you Fred
