I have no idea why but I am getting the message

“Sorry, Plugin requires PHP 5.0 or higher. Please deactivate Plugin.”

when I try to activate the plugin. I have PHP 5.3.3 installed and is it exposed as PHP Version 5.3.3-7+squeeze14

Any ideas on where to start looking for what the problem is ?

Just so anyone else with the same problem knows.

I solved this after much trial and error by simply changing file permissions as follows.

chmod 777 /public_html/wp-content

The plugin would then activate.

Strange but working now.
