Support » Plugin: W3 Total Cache » [Plugin: W3 Total Cache] Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

  • Hi.

    I just installed the plugin but it wouldn’t let me network activate it. That’s okay, but when I just activated it for my main site, it gave the error:

    Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
    /var/www/vhosts/new.bodhicharya.org/httpdocs/wp-config.php could not be written, please edit config and add:
    define(‘WP_CACHE’, true); before require_once(ABSPATH . ‘wp-settings.php’);

    My website has got real slow this past week, so I would love to get this plugin instaled. But, I am nervous about tweeking code in the settings.php file.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Do you know how to follow the directions in that error? You need to add define(‘WP_CACHE’, true); before require_once(ABSPATH . ‘wp-settings.php’); to the file /var/www/vhosts/new.bodhicharya.org/httpdocs/wp-config.php as W3TC couldn’t do it for you. Also network activation is not supported in the current release.
