Is there anyway to background upload to S3 when uploading new images? (2 posts)

We're hosting on Page.ly and came across a problem.

Basically, the server times out after two minutes trying to process a single (small) image.

The details are explained further in this video attached.

Is there any option to move the uploading of the files to s3 to the cron instead of real-time?

No there's no real time option because most servers can't do that anyway. It's best to use a CDN (S3 is *not* one), in origin pull mode like cloudfront and then there's never anything to upload, cloudfront does all of the work for you. You can provision a cloudfront distribution easily via W3TC by changing the method on the general settings tab and then populating the options on the CDN settings tab afterwards.
