  • Great question!! I would like the answer as well.

How do you change the default cache location for W3 Total Cache?

I want to move it outside of /wp-content/w3tc/, but unable to find a solution.

I worked out how to make changes in define.php to make this happen.
The changes have been submitted to the plugin authors.

I have made a second set of changes that allow the site config files and site cache to be in two different locations as well.

Thanks. Hopefully they will read this post and take your recommendations. It would make doing backups a whole lot easier and smaller in size.

Sorry, this is not currently possible. It’s planned for a future release. You can try a symlink for now.
