[resolved] Have uploads folder only on Amazon S3 (5 posts)

    For bandwidth and space reasons can the entire uploads folder reside on Amazon S3 only instead of keeping a copy of it on the local server as well with W3 Total Cache or does this have to be done manually?

    WordPress file system API doesn't allow wrappers like this to mount remote data sources.
    There's a plugin you might want to check though, it was written during GSoC 2010:

    What if we mounted S3 bucket as a directory on the local server by using the following method?

    I'm sorry, I think that solution is not related to WordPress anymore.
    I didn't give it a try though.

    @hamedhemmati, if you're worried about this, you probably don't have a very good host because neither is a big issue today and I don't encourage not having redundant copies of your media either way.
