[Plugin: W3 Total Cache] Errors in YSlow & content not being sent by CDN (14 posts)

    Hello,
To start out with, thanks for this great plug-in. I wanted to see if I could get some advice on some low grades I am getting in YSlow.

First, some info. I am using w3 total Cache with a max CDN.

    1. YSlow is telling me "There are 50 static components without a far-future expiration date." I am not sure how to fix this. Is W3 Total Cache not assigning expiration dates? Is there something technically I need to do on my end for this?

    2. IT tells me "There are 6 plain text components that should be sent compressed." I really have no idea how to resolve this using w3 Total Cache. The settings are on in order to gzip.

    3. It tells me "There are 18 components with misconfigured ETags." Again, I really have no idea how to resolve this.

    4. Some of my files are not being served from my CDN network. I have been trying to find out what this is and I have come to a conclusion that most of the files that aren't being served from the CDN have addresses like this: wp-content/themes/digitalfarm/styles/default/cat_nav_bg.jpg Meaning, they are files buried deep in the wp-content folder. I think also a lot of these image files are being defined in CSS files. My theme also gives the option of different "skins", meaning depending on what skin i am using, the css and images are buried deep in the wp-content folder. Is there any solution for this?

Any advice on what may be causing these problems would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if you need anymore specific information or if you would need me to send a debugging report.

    Thanks Again!
    Tim

It's hard to understand with seeing the actual report or knowing the domain so the test can be done. Most of the time it's 3rd party objects that cause these issues.

The depth of the files should not be a factor.

It probably makes the most sense for you to submit a bug submission report so I can know your domain name and settings etc and answer your questions. But again, every time these questions come up, usually it's widgets etc that are the cause and not objects that you host.

Sorry, might be a dumb question, but where do I submit the bug submission report and what specific information do you need?

    - W3 Total Cache Debug information
    - website domain
    - setting information

    anything else?

    Thanks so much,

    Tim

There's a support tab on the plugin's settings page.

I think something may be going on with your server as they're not reaching me (they're sent via email from your server). Please contact me through linked in or my web site's contact form.

    Hi Frederick,

I haven´t heard from you in more than a week so I just wanted to remind you of this bug report. I had sent you my site log-in information through email more than a week ago. I understand that you are busy and if you don´t have time to troubleshoot this right now, but I just wanted to hear something from you!

    Thanks again!!

I appear to myself as very annoying but I really don´t know what else to do. All I am really expecting is a simple acknowledgment of this bug´s existence. I don´t mind waiting for your help since you are doing this for free, but when I leave my sensitive site information with a stranger, I would expect at least some kind of response after almost 2 weeks.

I have spent many hours trying to troubleshoot these problems on my own, but I am afraid I can´t find a solution.

I guess I just feel like you have responded to every single post on this forum but mine in the 2 weeks and don´t understand why any kind of acknowledgment (a sentence is fine) hasn´t been given to my post.

I sent you my site information 13 days ago through email and followed up with two emails after that but haven´t heard back.

Please let me know if I am expecting too much, but when you give the expectation that you provide outstanding customer support and you provide it to every other thread but this one, it is frustrating. I would love to be able to pay you something for your time in order to troubleshoot this. I really think this is an amazing plug-in and I really want to get it working 100% on my site.

Again, I am sorry for writing this, I appear to myself as some annoying idiot demanding something. I assure you I am not. I guess the biggest thing is it is frustrating to see every other thread be answered by you with no acknowledgment of mine.

Please let me know anything else you need.

    Thank you,
    Tim
