   For the most part, W3 Total Cache appears to work for me.

   However, if /plugins/flash-video-player/swfobject.js is added to the JS file management list in the Minify section ...

   ... FireFox & Chrome are OK, only if Line break removal is not checked, and Header (non-blocking) is used in the JS Settings in W3 Total Cache.

   ... IE8 is NOT OK, regardless of the settings ...

   So, for now, I must remove /plugins/flash-video-player/swfobject.js from the list

   Any insights as to why there is a conflict would be greatly appreciated.

   Dave, not every JS file can be minified. That fact has nothing to do with W3TC. For similar reasons, not all HTML minification options will work on every site (without some adjustments), that's why most options are not enabled by default. So what I recommend is that users try to use as many options as that can (as long as they work). But by default most things are disabled because nothing works in all cases automatically.
