• On activating the plug-in, I get the error

Browser caching is not active. To enable it, add the following rules into the server configuration file (/var/www/vhosts/rivast.com/subdomains/blog/httpdocs/.htaccess) of the site . Or if permission allow this can be done automatically, by clicking here:

I have inserted the suggested code in .htaccess and set permissions to both .htaccess and wp-content appropriately. No dice. Auto-install doesn’t work either.

If I look in the support tab, …/blog/httpdocs/.htaccess contains a whole bunch of stuff beginning

    # BEGIN W3TC Browser Cache

    while …/wp-content/w3tc/pgcache/.htaccess contains stuff beginning

    # BEGIN W3TC Page Cache cache

This is a single server installation.

    Any clues much appreciated.
