    Hi I'm very interested in trying out your plugin. I have a couple of questions: I use an author template file to create author pages, as described in the WP codex. Is this plugin compatible with that? Will it allow users to create their own rich text bios and upload images to their author page? Finally, can I limit its use to authors and contributors, relegating basic subscribers to WP's standard profile?

    Hi there W,

    I'm glad your interested in my plugin. To answer your questions:

    1. This plugin will allow you to enhance the author template in your theme, but depending on your theme you will likely need to make a few adjustments to author.php in your theme. See the second screenshot on the plugin's Screenshots page.

    To create something similar to the screenshot I've used code like this on author.php before the loop:

    <?php
    /**
     * Author biography
     */
    $author_id = $post->post_author;
    $author_info = get_userdata( $author_id );
    $description = get_the_author_meta( 'description', $author_id );
    if ( $description ): ?>
    <div class="author-bio">
    	<h2>About The Author: <?php echo apply_filters('the_title', $author_info->user_nicename); ?></h2>
    	<?php if ( function_exists('get_avatar') ) echo get_avatar($author_id, '100'); ?>
    	<div class="entry">
    		<?php echo $description; ?>
    	</div>
    </div>
    <?php endif; ?>

    You will of course need to add CSS to style the biography to match your theme.

    2. Right now there is no ability to selectively choose what user level has access to the visual editor biography. That said I am just about to release version 1.3 that will only switch the biography textarea if the user is contributor level or higher. This is a good idea for security since we remove a few sanitization filters to allow HTML to be saved. Hopefully this suites your specific use case?

    Thanks again for using the plugin, I look forward to any other feedback you have.

    Hi Kevin,

    Is there a way to turn it on for Subscribers? I have a membership site that uses the WordPress user profile area and spins out a directory with author pages for each member. The members are all subscribers and they need the visual editor to ensure their biography looks ok for the directory.

    Thanks.
