You mean the counter on the dashboard pages that looks like this?
    1426 visitors since 10-22-2009 02:30 pm PDT

If it is decrementing, it means your web traffic is slowing.
This is not a lifetime visitor count, rather it is a count of how many vistor rows are in the database since the date (30 days ago by default)

If you want more stats about your visitors use awstats, webalizer, google analytics, etc.

This is normal because your traffic every day will not be the same. 30 days out, the logs are being deleted. The number could go up, or it could go down. If it is going down it just means your site is trending downward in daily visits. Do you understand?

I understand perfectly however, this "trend" is not backwards according to Google analytics and in fact the number has now dropped to 7605 since 10-25-2009 the date to which it was installed.. so it has not met the 30 day criteria, it is a handy tool indeed to follow visitors and map them I just am not following this at all... I just installed the plug-in on my mirror site, and it appears to be registering the visitors correctly. I have the refresh rate set for 5 minutes and after 5 minutes the "counter" does in fact increment...

I understand what you are saying however, the original install has not met the criteria as you explain it for this to be occurring.. do you understand?

OK, I will look at it again, it might not be counting repeat visits from the same person. I will look at that and fix it if that is he case.

If you would like to look at my database I can send it to you

here is one example of what appears to be corrupt data

    ask.com/ AskJeeves /.*[?|&|;]q=([^&]*).*/

now that last field is the same for MSN, yandsearch, lycos, yahoo, etc. and consumes the first approx 60 lines of mystat_data and all are indexed as Type "1"

This has in fact once again dropped below 7550 and is in fact counting backwards. What fields in the database can I simply remove to install this as a "fresh" install?

I noticed this problem after I believe the Nov 4 (approx) upgrade...

My next question is I suppose to see if I can simply "uninstall" the product and reinstall it? Will the database values be automatically removed?

    Thanks

I have the flu so I could be be offline for 24 hours. Will work on this when I feel better.

If you deactivate from admin plugins, database is saved, if you deactivate, then delete FROM admin plugins, database tables from this plugin are deleted.

I just realized that the CAPTCHA associated with this plug-in is causing 500 errors while enabled on the comment forms -- there must be a correlation here somewhere...

I am going to attempt to uninstall the entire program and reinstall
