• Great plugin – thanks! I’m running it on MU2.9.2 and everything behaves as expected. Only question is: is there a way to set the settings for all (15, in my case) blogs at once, rather than going blog by blog?

    Thanks,
    Stace

  • This plugin isn’t mutli-site (MU) aware. Sorry. πŸ™

    Hi Viper007Bond,
I’m going round in circles trying to find a plugin that will stream video from Amazon S3 storage servers. I am using that because I wanted access control over my content. Is there any chance you will be adding this to your list of supported sites?
    In anticipation

@stacef: Actually, what you could do is modify the default using the built-in filter though. Or even filter the option itself so it always returns the same thing for all blogs.

@peatee: As mentioned on my blog, my plugin doesn’t care where the video file is hosted.

Understood, but when I try to embed a video in a new post in the edit page all I can see are some button tags that say “embed a video from XXXXXXX” XXXXXXX = Google, Myspace, Youtube etc So If I pick one of those buttons, post the url of my video at s3.amazonaws, preview, I don’t see anything?

Well what type of video file is it?

At the moment .MOV but I can convert it to FLV and load that up, I’ll try that now.

Tried it and now I get a black window with a start/pause button and a slider and (I used the embed from Google) a Google logo bottom right – all greyed out. Surely I have to change the code where it says googlevideo to something else? [googlevideo]https://freerangeeggs.s3.amazonaws.com/Millies%20Kurt.flv[/googlevideo]

Ok, so if I use the Quicktime option it totally hangs my browser (Chrome) and if I use the generic vid embed I get a window that says “No plugin available to play this content”

You can’t just use an arbitrary shortcode for your video. [googlevideo] is for videos hosted on Google.com (from before they bought YouTube).

The best thing to do is convert it to FLV and then use the FLV button to make this:

    [flv]https://freerangeeggs.s3.amazonaws.com/Millies%20Kurt.flv[/flv]

Brilliant thanks, that works ok. I suppose it’s easy if you know what you are doing although I just copied the into my new post page in order to test it and then realized that I have to save settings for the button to appear.
    Much appreciate your help.
PS Is there a short code for playing .MOV files or am I out of my depth here?
    many thanks.

Yes, check the Quicktime box to get the Quicktime button to show up.

Did that and it works with 29 and 35Mb files but with one of 315Mb I just get the blue Q and a long, boring wait, (In fact I had to bin the post) ) is this to be expected? Cos it’s not good for peoples patience.
Incidentally, this was the button that hung up my browser before.

Non-Flash embeds such as Quicktime suck (regardless of plugin) and I do not support them. I regret adding support for them in the first place.

    Hi Alex,
I have just attempted (Six or seven times) to automatically upgrade from 6.2.14 to 6.2.17 and each time it has failed, do you know of any issues with this and is there a manual work around if you think I should upgrade anyway?
    cheers
    P

If you’re having trouble using the automatic upgrader, then just manually upload the plugin files.

Ok, so I followed your notes to upgrade manually and that worked fine but, I still keep getting this message at the top of my dashboard that says –
An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now. !! I have already logged out and back in and also activated the new version but it don’t go away even if I click on the link. Any idea’s who I should ask about this?
    cheers
    P
