Viper's Video Quicktags
Video embed causing rendering issues in Safari (3 posts)

I'm using Viper's Video Quicktags to embed videos on a client's WordPress site and I've noticed that, strangely enough, the video embeds are affecting the way text is being shown, but only in Safari.

If you see on this page: http://www.studiojona.nl/wordpress/work/rampreizen (with Vimeo and YouTube embedded) compared to http://www.studiojona.nl/wordpress/work/greenchoice/, the text in the right-hand column is noticeably a different colour and a different weight in the first instance.

I'm assuming its an issue with some open tags somewhere, because as soon as I remove the video embeds, the page goes back to normal.

If anyone could shed some light on my situation, that'd be great, it's reasonably urgent.

It appears that some part of the embed code changes the font smoothing on the text.

Putting -webkit-font-smoothing: subpixel-antialiased; in your stylesheet puts it back to normal.

Ah Safari, the Internet Explorer of Macs (and PCs). :)

Weird that my plugin would mess with things though. It's not doing anything crazy -- just some basic HTML that gets replaced with an embed using SWFObject. I guess the HTML that SWFObject is generating could be weird though...
