Not sure what you really want to achieve. It does what it describes (updating the URL). It doesn’t care, if a media file is attached to a post. It only updates the URLs. I don’t think it should attach media to their posts.
I was just wondering since no matter what I do on a small import the images don’t attach to their posts, but I can at least change the img urls in the posts with this tool.
This plugin works only if the URL contains the http:
. For example, if an image is linked like <img src="//domainname.com/path/to/image.png">
, then this tool would not work. In such situation, you may use Search and Replace plugin. If you are comfortable with the command line in Linux (assuming your host is using Linux and has SSH support), you may modify my script (that I wrote to update CDN URL) to suit your needs.
Incorrect. The plugin just wants you to define the string it is replacing.
It could be anything.
Old URL: cow
New URL: pig
And it would replace every word containing “cow” with “pig”.
In my experience that is.
