Plugin update notifier? (6 posts)

Strange goings on here. In the Plugins page, when there is an update to a plugin, we are told so in a small box below the plugin, and given the chance to upgrade.
I'm running the plugin: Ad Rotator, v 1.0, which I believe is the only version. Today in my Plugins page, below the Ad Rotator plugin there is the following message: ''There is a new version of Ad Rotator available. Download version 1.2.1.20070210b here or upgrade automatically.''
    The link given is: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/widgets/
which, of course does not lead to a fresh download of Ad Rotator, but to an old download of Widgets.

As if that wasn't confusing enough, further down the Plugins page, under the plugin: WP-Cron-Mail, v 1.2 I'm advised of the following: ''There is a new version of WP-Cron-Mail available. Download version 1.3 here or upgrade automatically.''
But this link leads me to a download which is considerably older than the version I'm already using.

    What is going on here?

No replies. Has no one an idea about this? The problem remains as stated.

I had the same problem. Basically, because you have that plugin inside the widgets folder, it gets it confused with the widgets plugin.

As of 2.5, all plugins should be in their own subfolders of the plugins folder. Don't put more than one plugin into the same folder.

I have a completely different problem, my 2.5 (none of the six I have installed) says "There is a new version of Ad Rotator available. Download version 1.2.1.20070210b here or upgrade automatically."
Any idea what that could be? I'd like to try this function some time.

Just thinking out loud, but could the problem be the same as that I couldn't activate Akismet because I "couldn't connect to server"? That plugin widget (that turns blank anyway, is this another sign of the same thing?) on my dashboard or not doesn't make a difference.

Thanks Otto42. That certainly works for the Ad Rotator plugin. I did what you suggest and the problem went away.
However, the second problem, relating to wp-cron-mail, remains. Under the plugin on the plugins page I'm told that there is an upgrade to 1.3. But when I download and upload to the server, nothing changes. It still wants me to upgrade.
