    Hello all,

I am currently running WordPress 2.7.1. About a week or so ago, I began noticing that I am no longer receiving update notifications when a new version of a plugin is available.

I have already tried de-activating/deleting/reinstalling plugins, but it did not help. Currently, I am running the following plugins:
    Akismet
    Daily Top 10 Posts
    Datafeedr Random Ads Plugin
    DISQUS Comment System
    Get Custom Field Values
    Most Commented
    Popularity Contest
    rc:custom_field_gui
    Search Meter
    Simple Tags
    WP-Print
    WP Page Numbers
    WP Super Cache

Any ideas? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

I've noticed that I'm having the same issue on one of my WP sites. I gave it a few days, but nothing has shown up. I just looked manually and I have quite a few updates that are not showing up. I have no orange badge with a number on the "Plugin" navigation in the admin sidebar and I have no yellow "update" span on my Manage Plugins page.

I'm not even sure how long it's not been working. I ran a plugin check using the Core Control plugin, and still nothing.

I've just upgraded to 2.8.4, saw the red badge that 5 plugins needed to be upgraded, went to plugins, upgraded one of them, scrolled down to do more, noticed "hello dolly" and deleted it, and then the whole plugin notification feature vanished.

I didn't upload "hello dolly" into my plugins folder, it's been deleted for quite some time - did the upgrade (root files, wp-admin, wp-includes) trigger the addition? Is "hello dolly" attached to the plugin notification feature?

I uploaded it separately from the 2.8.4 zip file, and the cforms indicated it needed an upgrade but none of the others came up - and the red badge doesn't appear, either.

Anyone have any idea what's happening with it?

If you delete the Hello Dolly plugin it will be installed again whenever you upgrade (same goes for Akismet).

Might get the Core Control plugin and let it check for plugin upgrades (under the Core Control, Plugin, Theme, and Core Updates" tab)

    Thanks, Michael.

I've installed the core-control plugin, activated the core updates, and had it check for plugin updates:

    Checking for updates...

An Error occured during the update check

    What do you suggest?

I have completely wiped clean wp-includes and wp-admin and reinstalled both from scratch.

Check the Cron Control's Filesystem access to see if it shows something not available. Also wonder if you host changed anything?

Also you said "cforms indicated it needed an upgrade", but I don't believe Cforms is part of extend/plugins and therefore WOULD NOT have an upgrade available.

    Okay, here's what I've done:

checked for updates in the plugin, theme and core updates with the core control plugin, got an error.

    Found this: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/231500?replies=13

Went back to the core controls plugin and activated the HTTP Access Module. Went to the external HTTP Access and disabled cURL, then went back and checked for updates in the plugin, theme and core update section and it found updates. Now, plugin updates are showing on the plugin panel, but no red badge showing in the sidebar.

Is there going to be an issue with the disabling of cURL? Long term security issues or anything?

Woop - the red badge is there now, refreshed the dashboard while I was on the plugin page.

you can't upgrade it automatically - but it does tell you if an upgrade is available so you can visit their website for instructions

Before running the core plugin, cforms was the only plugin, after reactivating "Hello Dolly" that had an upgrade notification on it.

    I did upgrade it manually.

    Thanks. Didn't realize that...

As I understand it, this is a cURL issue, a timing out because the server that my host has me on is stuffed?

Is there going to be an issue with the disabling of cURL? Long term security issues or anything?

Don't really know, but dd32 (major contributor to the plugin/core update code and author of Core Control) in this thread suggests diabling curl and so I would say it is okay to do that...

Awesome - thanks for the info Michael, wasn't aware that he was a contributor. Certainly makes me feel better about it!
