[Plugin: Twitter Tools] Tweets don't update in IE (8 posts)

I've installed Twitter Tools and have the widget working properly when viewed in FireFox.

But when the site is viewed in Internet Explorer (either 7 or 8), it's showing an old tweet and not updating. In fact, it's saying that the tweet displaying (re Andy Karsner) is from 1 week ago but it is from at least a month ago.

If I manually update the tweets in the Twitter Tools options, if the IE browser window is active the tab will sometimes show the updated tweet (usually, not all the time). But when you shut the browser down and restart (even clearing out the cache etc. using CCleaner) - the update is gone and the old Tweet is showing again.

Any clues on what's going on here? Most people are still using IE, so I need to get this corrected.

    Thanks!

Bump - could this be a problem with Twitter's time-stamping code? But why does it work in Firefox and not IE?

    Anybody there????

I've been looking around Alex King's website for more clues, but came up empty on answers to this IE issue.

    Anybody else having this problem?

  4. It's wrong on FF 3. Are you sure you have the latest install of TT? Are you using the straight widget or some form of ajax to show the info in the sidebar?

I'm using FF 3.1.10 and it works fine there. How odd!

I'm pretty sure I'm using the latest version of Twitter Tools because my dashboard isn't telling me otherwise (like it does with other plugins that have updates). Version 1.6.

And I'm using the straight widget in the sidebar.

The only option that might be involved (because I have NO idea) is "JS library to use?" and I left it at the default = JQuery.

Thanks for jumping in here, I appreciate it very much!!

  6. jQuery should be fine. I can't see why I'd be caching anything since that was my first visit :)

Looking at the source of your page, you're using SuperCache which I'm betting is why it fails :( Your cache has the old post. There's probably a way to fix it, but I don't use SuperCache.

    YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

Thank you SO much, I disabled SuperCache and removed its history files (don't really know why I need it anyway) and it instantly sorted out the problem.

Whew, that was really bugging me, so I can't tell you how much I appreciate you putting your finger right on the answer.

    Thanks again! Cheers ....

  8. No prob :) As for WHY it worked on FF, you're logged in on FF but not IE. The cache doesn't cache if you're logged in, IIRC :)
