[Plugin: Twitter Tools] Force bit.ly service (8 posts)

I'm running Twitter Tools 1.6 on WordPress 2.7.

I want to force Twitter Tools to use bit.ly (or any URL shortening service really) on every post.

Does anyone know how to do this?

I added a hook in the current release so that the URLs of your posts get passed through a filter. This way you can have them shortened with any service you like - you just need ot build the appropriate integration.

Check the README for the specs.

Would this explain why in the past few days my Twitter posts using Twitter tools have not been shortening automatically?

Thanks Alex. I appreciate any help you can send my way.

    Okay,

I've looked further into this issue and I see that with the newest update there was some change on the filter http://alexking.org/projects/wordpress/readme?project=twitter-tools

Frustrating but I'm off to try and resolve this issue. Sigh.

    Okay,

I'm going to try this plug-in. Anybody have any other suggestions?

There is a script snippet floating around that allows bit.ly to be used for Twitter Tools.

I've cleaned the code slightly (the snippet didn't work for me off the bat) and packaged it up for general use, you can get it here:

    Chris,

I tried your plugin and got hit with an error when posting.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: json_decode() in /homepages/8/d90465843/htdocs/blog/wp-content/plugins/bitly_4_tt/bitly4tt.php on line 41

Any idea on what the issue could be?

    Cheers,
    Jake
