What do you think of adding the ability to add hashtags to the auto-tweets on a post by post basis by using a customfield on the post?

For example, if this post is about WordPress, I could enter #wordpress into the box and it would get included in my automated tweet.

    Thanks!

Yeah, I'll probably have to replace the Tweetmeme button with the official Twitter one that has supplanted it. It's a busy month for me, though. In the mean time, you could probably add the Twitter button manually.

I also like the hashtag idea.

Also, I think some of your URL shorteners are out of date. I tried 3.ly, and got back something about needing an api key. then i tried ow.ly and it just didn't work. :/

May I make a suggestion? Could you put in there an option to not use a URL shortener?

I've edited my permalinks to be extremely short (i.e. "http://mysite.com/p/1234") so even though it's not as short as bit.ly it's not very big and could fit on a tweet message.

You even could put in there a message warning about having a long url in permalink or something.

There's always the option of not using permalinks (i.e. "http://mysite.com?p=1234") so you may consider allowing that to be selected too.

I'd like to second the hashtags request; perhaps something to append the hashtags after the URL. The code would need to chop off entire hashtags if the resulting tweet gets longer than 140 characters. (Rather than just truncating the tweet and possibly making up a new and unintended hashtag. We wouldn't want #butter to end up as #butt!)
