  • Fantastic plugin, and works great in WordPress 3.0.1
    Thank you.

Brilliant idea. But it just tried it and it crashed my site probably due to a server overload.

I had just finished configuring the settings and clicked save. My twitter account: jarretmorrow, must have Tweeted every post on my website.

Has anyone else had these problems? I’ve never had problems with any other plugins for WordPress lately.

Hi jmorrow, you may need the new version.
it now uses OAuth authentication which works well.
I really like this plugin, particularly as many twitter plugins now broken because of Oauth.
If it sent out too many posts, I would check the section for excluded categories. I had to fine tune this to make sure only certain categories went out.
Only other problem I can think of is that it needs PHP 5 to work.
    Good luck. Mike.

The same thing happened to me as well, overloaded my web host, and I feel sorry for my twitter followers…

    Ouch.

    Ivan,

I figured out what the problem is. The recommendations say to set the maximum age of old posts to 0 or leave blank if you don’t want to use this option.

    That’s the problem right there.

If you set it at zero or leave it blank, it will overload your host and tweet every post on your site instantly until Twitter shuts it down or you host crashes–whatever happens first.

However, if you don’t want it to have a limit, set it to 100,000 or 10,000 for the maximum age of old posts and it works!!!

    Hope this helps,

    Hey jmorrow,

    Thanks for your tip.

I did not touch any more configuration settings after host restarted the server, because I didn’t know what else could explode in our faces 🙂

If you want, you may wish to include it in the comments in the plugin page so that it may help others with this terrifying problem.
