   I am searching for a plugin to stop hammering on my site by bots or human users. By hammering I mean multiple attempts to access the site in just a few seconds.

   Is there some plugin in which I can define the no.of maximum attempts allowed to access the site in say 1 minute? And if exceeded the IP can be banned from the site. Such a plugin will be really useful.

   It would be better if this was taken care of at the server level actually. If you or your host has a firewall in place, this should already be occuring. There's some mods within Apache that will help as well. (mod_security?)
