I am starting to configure The Events Calendar and it looks like it will be great. However, the sidebar is not showing up on any of the views. It is not a css issue, the sidebar is just not being called at all.

Let me look into it. On the three themes I tested it on the sidebar shows.

Can you both please provide links to your site so I can peek under the hood and see if I can figure it out?

You can see our event calendar here. We're using a slightly modified RGB Beta theme.

Thanks for looking into this. If we do end up using this calendar/events system, there'll definitely be a donation going your way. If it ends up working, it looks like the best event/calendar system available for WordPress.

When we dug into things last night, it turns out that not all themes are playing by the same rules (no surprise there). We are debating brute forcing a sidebar space into there but it would most likely conflict with people who are handling their sidebars in the classic way. Maybe if we make it an option in the panel?

Anyways, my best suggestion is to create an override template for the time being. See the docs and discussion in this issue.

I try it in different Themes, same, no sidebar, i change the template code all ways, if the sidebar is there, its under the content or over, but never where the sidebar must be :(

    Shane-

Manually adding the sidebar to those files worked. Thank you so much.

Shane I think the solution of being able to create modified versions of the view files in your theme folder is ultimately a good one. And moreover it follows the child/parent structure. Well done.
