[Plugin: The Events Calendar] pull in Registered Events (5 posts)

If I may, I would like to throw in my 2 cents on some possible future feature requests:

    1. Is it possible to pull in already registered EventBrite events into a post?
    2. The ability to search event data, ie. zipcode
    3. Shortcode ability to post calendar or event(s) on a WordPress Page.
    4. Google Map API integration.

Again, thanks for this plugin. I'm still testing and seeing how this all works!

    Hey Dave,

    You'll like this answer:

#1 - been working on it since wednesday. Hope to have it in the next major release. We have three different approaches we are coding.

    a) The first is the ability to use shortcodes to display any eventbrite ticketing (short or full) purchase / registration forms in a post. All you need is the eventbrite ID. This is done and will go out with the next dot release this week.
    b) The second is a manual addition when you create a post. It simply asks you if this is a current eventbrite event and allows you to submit the eventbrite event id. It then imports all the data.
    c) The third is a sync with eventbrite function that will import all your evenbrite events, filter out the ones you have already created posts for and then build out anything you don't have in wordpress. Its a bit complicated so it might take a little while to iron out the bugs.

#2 - not yet. its somewhat complicated and we are tackling some other hairy tasks first. That said, if you are good coder, reading this and want to give it a shot, we would love to have you join the contributor crew.

#3 - interesting suggestion. What would you want it to display? Can you give me a specific use case or two?

#4 - in the works! No eta yet though.

    Shane,
    Thanks for the reply!
#1c - looking forward to this. The ability to automatically pull in/sync events is ideal.

#2 - This one is pretty important as to have the ability to search for any event based on zip or state/location. The idea is to limit the list of events based on user input request. I'll have to check back on this.

#3. I've come to understand more how the calendar is working based on posts, therefore, a wordpress page doesn't make as much sense. (it was a late.)

    #4. Great!

You'll be glad to know that I managed to get Google Maps integration working last night, just in time for this release. It will be out this week.

    Hi Shane,

I had a mysterious encounter using Eventbrite for The Events Calendar plugin.

When I installed this plugin to WordPress - at first I was able to click on "Settings" then Events Calendar to add the API code that enables me to use existing events in Eventbrite. Then I upgraded to version 1.6 and the ability to add the API key disappeared.

I don't know what to do because even though I will be able to add a new event - I cannot sync it with Eventbrite since they won't talk to each other.

    2. The other thing - when adding events in WordPress - there is an option "Do you want to import an existing event from Eventbrite?"

I select yes then I am asked to "Enter your Eventbrite Event ID here:" but I don't know if this is the API code or URL or what.

    Please help..

    Jos
