   I tried enabling comments in the settings, yet two things persist - on new posts, even if I go back in and try to edit/republish this happens:

   1. Comments are off/disabled, no matter how I try to enable them
   2. Excerpts are not allowed. No matter what you paste in the box, it disappears after you publish.

   My only workaround is to

   1. disable the events calendar
   2. Edit the affected posts - enabling comments and also adding the excerpt, then publishing them
   3. activating the events calendar

   Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

   Oh I forgot to mention, these issues are the same whether I am posting an event or just a regular post.

   Hi Paulie,

   Check Settings -> The Events Calendar -> Show Comments and make sure that option is set to "yes"

   The provided templates don't show the excerpt, but it's reasonably straightforward to customize this yourself.

   The Events Calendar plugin comes with default templates for the list view, grid view and single post view. If you would like to alter them, create a new folder called "events" in your template directory and copy over the following files from within the plugin folder (the-events-calendar/views/):

   * gridview.php
   * list.php
   * single.php
   * events-list-load-widget-display.php

   Edit the new files to your hearts content. Please do not edit the one's in the plugin folder as that will cause conflicts when you update the plugin to the latest release.

   What's happening when you disable the plugin is that wordpress is reverting back to the default temmplates and not using our provided event specific templates.
