I realize my question may be related to the theme I am using and not the actual plugin, but being new to wordpress, I wanted to post here to confirm.
Both the event and calendar display appear on my page without the theme background, and the event post appears in the far left column; there are normally two/three columns to a page. I would imagine that in order to get both the event and calendar pages to display correctly I will need to make some changes to the pages identified in the "Default vs. Custom Templates" section.
Also, I wanted to get some clarification on the following step and what needs to be done in the following documentation step:
"Update your permalinks to ensure that the event specific rewrite rules take effect."
