[Plugin: The Events Calendar] Can The events calendar do this

    Sorry if some of these may have been answered, I have searched here and the forums over at the official website without any luck

    1. Can the calendar be searched exclusively? I noticed that a general wordpress search will return the events along with pages/posts but can I search only the calendar?
    2. I noticed that there are categories and you can colour code these.Is it also possible to only to able to view (on the calendar view) events from just one category at a time, maybe via a dropdown?
    3. Is there a widget or a shortcode that will allow me to put a mini version of the calendar into the sidebar?? I noticed there is a list view (upcoming events) but is there a calendar view also?

    Hi candell. Thanks for reaching out, and apologies for the delayed response. Normally we hit this forum more frequently but as half the support staff was out last week, we didn’t have the bandwidth.

    To address these questions:

    1. At this point, no…not out of the box anyway. You may be able to find a third-party plugin that could help accomplish this, and based on user demand we may incorporate such a feature later on, but there are unfortunately no plans at this time.
    2. You can definitely view all events from an individual category on the frontend of the site, though no dropdown exists to do so out of the box. This has been a heavily requested feature so we’ll probably be adding it sooner rather than later.
    3. There is indeed a widget that comes with The Events Calendar that shows a basic events list. (Additional widgets are available in the PRO release, one of which is a basic calendar view). On the shortcode front…while we don’t use shortcodes, we have template tags that give much of the same flexibility. Check them out at http://tri.be/support/documentation.
